So She Says…
Good morning, sweet peeps, and congratulations! You made it to 100! I’d jerry-rigged a rudimentary device out of twigs and clay and bits of wire that ran between my website IP address, and an egg timer. Last night around —-, it went off, signaling me that - once again - it’s time to get up and write to you dudes again. So, here I am. I had a good vacation.
In fact, I had such a good vacation that I’m going to extend it, and I’ll tell you why. In the time between lurking in my comments section and crying over the need for a new transmission for the car, I began once again working diligently on my book. In case you clocked in late and missed earlier discussions (circa 2004) on the subject, I’ve been writing a book. I’ve been writing it for about five years, which really means I wrote diligently for approximately 8 months, sporadically for 2 years, and then spent the rest of the time thinking about it every day. It’s damn hard work being an author, I’ll tell you. The thinking alone is chunk enough to choke a donkey. (I don’t know what that means either. Note to self: think of funnier comparison.)
The book is a mess and needs my attention. It needs restructuring and an actual storyline, neither of which it’s sporting right now. We’re creative beings, but we have only so much creative energy to spend - or at least I do, lazyass that I am - which boils down to the bare fact that I can’t blog and write a book at the same time. SO. I’ve decided to pour myself into my book and blog only occasionally, when I’m bursting with something to say. I feel terrible after all the begging and raw emotion and wonderful things you said to me:
(Nines): “5. She is a regular blogger, unlike people like me who are unreliable.” haha!
But a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.
I’ll keep the comments open if you want to say something to me - and check them regularly. Also, you can write me letters: kellywell@gmail.com. I like letters, and will even endeavour (endeavor) to reply. And if I ever finish this book - and if by some miracle of heavenly magiks it ever gets published - I will dedicate it to all of you. Or I could come crawling back in two weeks. Either way. I love you guys. kiss hug xo

June 19th, 2006 07:20
But Nines, you were quoted… kiss
June 19th, 2006 07:52
But I already miss you. And now you’re going away. Is there an emoticon for pouting?
I’m just so bored with work and study that I need people to update sites to keep me entertained. Now two of my regular visiting grounds are gone. Damnation.
Good luck with the book!
June 19th, 2006 07:52
Ahhhhhhh.
We’ll miss your bloggy-goodness. Or should that be bloggi-goodness?
June 19th, 2006 08:02
Nines, I’ll send you portions of my book to keep you entertained. Trust me, you’ll be laughing at all the sad parts, and crying when I want you to laugh. PLENTY entertainment for you. PLENTY. Sweetie pie. And one of these days you’ll be a high-powered lawyer who can handle my overseas publishing needs. Would you?? xo
@@@
Fencer, I believe the term would be “bloggedy goodness.” At least, when I channeled Willow there for a second, that’s what she said. I’ll still pop over to your place and harass you sometimes. Hope springs eternal that the World Cup will eventually end. xo
June 19th, 2006 08:07
Although the self-absorbed part of me that wants my friend to be available any/all the time is sulking right now, she can just shut up while the more mature part of has known all along it was just a matter of time– you belong on a talk show hawking your novel, honey! You were born to write!
June 19th, 2006 08:07
Hey.
I say ‘cheers!’ for being true to yourself. And for bravely stepping away from the microphone.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Of course, maybe you could do one last little post with a picture of the bookcase….
Okay, never mind.
Happy writing, Kel.
~smooch!~
June 19th, 2006 08:16
WOW! Of course I’m sad that you are shutting us all out (haha!!)but sooooo excited about your book! Even if it will take a lifetime for you to write it
As long as you are well and happy, that’s the main thing. Don’t forget to pop by from time to time will you?
PS Are you feeling the love? Blimey Kelly, you were sorely missed over the last week or so xx
June 19th, 2006 08:27
You have the most amazing readership!
…101 responses to the post saying you were going to take a vacation from blogging. Incredible.
June 19th, 2006 09:09
I was all excited to see that you were “back” but then you weren’t so I wasn’t as excited and then you said you were writing your book and I got all excited to read your new book but you said it would be a while before it was done so then I wasn’t as excited.
June 19th, 2006 09:21
Chouli, I will pay the mature part of you money to be my professional encourager. MONEY. Of course it’ll be in confederate bills, but you don’t mind, do you? I will pay your inner child in lollies.
Thankee sweets. xo

Cath, I would have been disappointed if you hadn’t mentioned that damn bookcase. I WILL post a picture of it when it’s finally complete - I still have a tiny bit of papier mache-ing to do on the bottom. Expect a picture sometime in 2010. sigh. kiss xo
@@@
Claredy, I LOVE you for saying blimey, and for begging for me last week. You don’t know how much that meant to me. I’ll probably send you money, too. Of course I’ll pop over to see you - I need to keep up with my peeps; gotta find out when you get those new boobs and all, and how BABY is! xo
@@@
Paul, you’re so sweet, but you DO know that well over half of those 101 was Colleen leaving one word comments, right? But I do love my readers so much, because they’re friends. I’m so glad you’ve popped in occasionally too, Paul. Blessings… xo
@@@
Anneee, it’s my sole purpose to enrich the lives of my friends, any old way I can. See how much exercise you got in the thirty seconds it took to read my post? You’ll be singing a different tune when you start getting royalties from my book. Oh wait - that would be me. Never mind then.
kiss xo
June 19th, 2006 09:33
Kelly, what an unsatisfying post! Here you got my hopes up and then dashed them against the rocks. But I understand, I really do. Go for the book!! Just remember we all love you and miss you and would love for you to stop by the good ole Kelly Kaffe.
P.S. Have you ever thought of compiling a book of your best blogging work? Or Maybe “Kelly’s Lines for Life” complete with “The thinking alone is chunk enough to choke a donkey.”
June 19th, 2006 09:49
Jenns, wouldn’t it be fun if all we bloggers could compile our stuff into books? Maybe one day… but there are a trazillion bloggers better than me (A. Scott, Brandon, Neil, and about, well, a trazillion more) so I need to stick with the impossible mess of a story I began with those five years ago. sigh. Life should be easier, crappit. I love you too, Jenns, SO much. xo
June 19th, 2006 10:19
Good on ya and proud of ya.
And what’s this about half of the 101? Waaaah! Oh alright, I confess.
And hey, sweet Carolina girl … GO OILERS!
June 19th, 2006 10:20
The dogs are fighting, my baby is in Germany, my hubby is absent for a big chunk of the summer, my house is a MESS, my best friend has to work so we can’t play, and NOW THIS! No Kelly?
You gotta do what ya gotta do. Props to you for the courage to set the blog aside and follow your passion. I’ll miss you Kell - but I understand.
xo
June 19th, 2006 10:27
YAAH! Go Marvin! Kelley, love ya and looking forward to the adventures of Marvin. Go for it. I miss your daily recountings, but I know it is for the best.
June 19th, 2006 11:57
i see a different header when I view the site at home. It looks like something carved in rock, but here it is the grass. What’s up with that.
June 19th, 2006 12:36
I forgot to mention that I have taken the picture of u and Scott from the site and use it as wallpaper on my computer at work.
June 19th, 2006 13:35
Colleeny, what’s this OILERS business? The football team? Houston Oilers? Whaa? Did they transfer to North Carolina at some point? I’m such a sports dork, sorry. But thank you for calling me sweet. You get some money, too.
xo
@@@
Karedy, hi! I’m sorry to be abdicating on you, too, but yes. Gotta do the deed, or it’ll never get done. I’ve already been, on the first day of official “writing,” down in the depths of hell, and soaring the heights of heaven. It’s going to be a bumpy ride for me, but I’ve had some fresh wind infused and am encouraged. ANYWAY. Thank you for the props, homegirl. xo
@@@
Roddy, maybe I SHOULD change his name to Marvin… It’s currently Martin, though. Well, I’m giving up the blog ALL on your comment that one day I’ll be a famous author. I certainly hope you can come through on that threat, otherwise I’ll have wasted a lot of time. A LOT of time.
Steve’s fixed the header now. The stone wall looked terrible with the green of the blog, and I don’t want to mess with a new look right now. And WHY would you want Scott and me staring at you every day at work? OH, for sticking funny & insulting post-it notes on? I get it now.
xo
June 19th, 2006 14:12
Thanks, I could use some money. Oh boy oh boy, could I. $$$ Well, I would have to say that I’m a sports dork as well but then I married my honey and well … HOCKEY!!! The thing is the Edmonton (Canada) Oilers are playing the Carolina Hurricanes tonight. I don’t have time to tell you all the ways that tonight’s game is the most important game in, like, EVER. It is the last game in the battle for the Stanley Cup and well … Let’s just say that we are all going bezerk up here cheering for the Oilers because our very hearts beat oil and well … we just gotta win is all. I have to admit I’ve wondered several times why anyone would play hockey (on ice with skates) in Carolina. Maybe you could fill in my many blanks as I puzzle, puzzle, puzzle. Wouldn’t it be like us having year round pools? Oh wait a sec, we could skate on those come November. Never mind. I rambleth yet again. Help! Save me from myself.
June 19th, 2006 15:54
Colleen, meet Fence. Fence, meet Colleen. It’s time for you two chickies to join Sportsters Anonymous. Honestly. heh heh.

Good for you, Kell! Funny, my hubby and I were just this last weekend discussing what I would have to give up to finish my musical (gotcha beat–been working on it for 7 years. Ha!) I did discuss my eBay business, but am not yet ready to dismiss blogging, since I only started four months ago, and the addiction is too new. However, I think it may (eventually) have to go by the wayside somewhat. But not now.
To make you feel great–I will totally miss you, but will probably have more time in my day to do other stuff now that I am not checking comments all day long. However, on the other hand, I am now reading alot more blogs thanks to you, as I keep inviting myself over to the blogs of your commenters. *waves* Hey everyone! So, never mind. Just come talk to us every so occasionally, so we know that Martin didn’t abduct you and switch your brain with a donkey’s.
Love you! xo

Don’t worry Kelly, I’ve just set up a new sport only site, so although I won’t be silent on the sports over at the blog I will be less likely to ramble on forever.
Hmm, actually I’ve just posted about sport, so maybe I’m lying.
June 21st, 2006 06:38
Talena, hee-haw. More a jackass than anything, truth be told, but yep! I’m kidnapped! It’s fun… I’ve been working on Martin every day, starting first thing in the mornings. The story’s been heading off in all directions, and one of these days I’ll choose one. I’m enjoying myself. I hope you get your musical written, too - I’ve never met anyone who’s composing a whole musical! - but I understand the blogging addiction VERY well. Everything will happen when you’re ready for it to. kiss xo
@@@
Karyary boom-de-ay, so… are you coming to Ireland with me and Jean and Heather Anne next summer or what??
I miss you too, little thing. It seems like a lifetime since we’ve seen each other, doesn’t it? You can ALWAYS come visit me - next April? hm? - or anytime you like, and I’ll plan a trip back there soon, before we’re both too old to actually see each other.
I’ve been thinking of you loads because I want to buy some passion flowers to put in a pot by the porch. I hope I don’t kill them so they can stretch and wind over the railing and look gorgeous. I also hope the cats don’t poop in them. I love you, Mary Kary Gallagher. kiss xo
@@@
Fencer, thank GOD! My prayers have been answered! My wand can remain unthreatened and unbroken! And I can visit your blog without rolling my eyes!! See?
(I learned that from you.) Honestly, I would be sad if you tamped down your passion in any way, even if it IS for sports. It’s one of the things I like about you, so I’m not going to squawk if you mention football or rugby, okay? I’ll just be polite and casually make fun of you in your comments section, per usual.
kiss xo
June 21st, 2006 08:36
Well, once the making fun is casual I suppose it is okay
So when do we get to read the first extract? I wonder do some of the other emoticony-fings work;

damn
June 21st, 2006 09:24
I laughed when you wrote about me joining Sports Anonymous only because I have trouble walking without tripping on the carpet and well that’s only when I feel like walking … I just don’t have time to tell you all the reasons why that’s so funny. Hockey is just a Canadian thing. Honestly, thousands of cars and trucks had sports flags waving from their windows, it’s the first story when you watch Canadian news, it’s what people are talking about the next morning at work … you just can’t escape it up here. The biggest reason though is that my hubby is a huge fan and his excitement is infectious. We went to see a game together and it was a wonderful experience. Come now, Kelly, are there any weird things you like that you thought you never would now that Scott’s in your life? Please tell me because I want to use a rolly-eyed emoticon, too. (I’m not defensive AT ALL now, am I? They say that’s the first sign you have a problem …!)
On a totally different note … I’m gleeful to hear you’re enjoying yourself in your writing endeavours. We’re all proud of you.
SMOOCH! X

June 23rd, 2006 15:07
You’ve got a lot of nerve thinking and doing about what’s important for you. It’s time you stop making a living and start entertaining us again.
June 23rd, 2006 19:48
If it isn’t one helleva book, you’ll have a lot of explaining to do!
Good Luck Kelle Belle! =)
