A Little About Me
kellywell@gmail.com
It seems redundant to write a bio for you, when my entire blog is a bio, spread out every day for your perusal, but I realize there are some salient points that rarely come up. Say, am I married, or do I have kids? Yes, and yes. My husband Scott and I have been married twenty-three years, and we have three children: Van, 22; Jesse, 19; and Torie, 17. They’re all awesome.
I grew up in California and spent my adolescence-on-up in Oregon, until our little family moved to North Carolina seven years ago. We like it here, except it’s humid. The thunderstorms are incredible, and worth the move alone. I like to see power in nature, just not too close up, so – although we live in a tornado and hurricane state, because we’re tucked into the foothills, we’re protected, so it’s perfect. Yay.
I’ve done lots of stuff throughout my 43 years: played accordian, piano and pennywhistle, written songs and played in bands, sung in worship teams (zillions it seems), penned poems, attempted all kinds of artwork in every medium, and started to write a couple books (gotta. finish. those.) I worked for a magazine a few months, my favorite job so far. I’ve done secretarial work, and wanted to slit my wrists. I worked in a restaurant, and actually tried to slit my wrists (just kidding). Now I’m going to school, working towards the degree I didn’t get way back when. It’s stressful but fun, and I swear, it’s going to take freaking FOREVER.
Besides writing, reading is what I do the most in my spare time. Right now, it’s non-fiction but I try to spice it up with a good novel now and again. Stephen King is perfect for between-textbook reading. I like movies, too, but I prefer TV on DVD. Occasionally I look towards my art supplies with longing, but just don’t have the creative energy to succumb to the call. O, one of these days. I listen primarily to what my kids refer to as “easy-listening hardcore.” HEY, at least it still falls into the hardcore category, so I can pretend to be young for a mite longer. It helps me get my frustrations out.
Well, there you have it. If you could possibly want to know more, maybe you’ll find it in today’s journal entry. See you there, and thanks for reading!
